Dock Safety Tips

At the heart of our company is the safety of families and their tiniest members. We have compiled a list of guidelines to help keep you and your family safe. Additional information is available in the FAQ and Guideline and Warnings portion of our website.

01 bare is best

Did you know...when it comes to a baby’s resting environment, “bare is best” for the first year.

“Bare is best” means that there should be no blankets, pillows or other objects in the baby’s resting space. This includes keeping DockATot docks out of the crib, bassinet or play yard and keeping loose blankets out of the dock.

02 baby on back

Did you know... babies should only be placed on their back to rest for their first year of life?

Babies may fall asleep anytime, even unexpectedly. Accordingly, aside from tummy time, babies less than one year of age should always be placed on their back in the dock.

03 be present

DDid you know…it’s important that you stay near your baby at all times when your baby is in a DockATot Deluxe+ dock?

You never know when your baby will start to crawl and become mobile. The Deluxe+ dock is not a bassinet, play yard, or crib – it does not have high sides to contain the baby.

04 stay firm (& flat)

Did you know...docks should only be placed on a firm, flat and stable surface from which the baby cannot fall?

DockATot is multi-functional and super easy to use in many locations. Be sure to only use it on the floor or on another firm, flat, stable surface.

05 never carry baby in dock

Did you know…children should not be carried inside the dock?

While docks themselves are portable, they are not designed for carrying children. If you want to transport your dock, remove your child before moving the dock.

06 toddler transition

Did you know…when a child is otherwise ready to use a toddler or big kid-sized bed, the Grand dock can be used in the toddler bed or big kid-sized bed?

Before using a dock in a toddler or big kid-sized bed, be sure the child can safely climb in and out of the dock and bed on their own, and also be sure to child-proof their room.

07 keep it together

Did you know...docks must only be used when fully assembled and zipped up?

Do not remove inside contents and use them alone. Loose parts can present a suffocation hazard.

08 tummy time

Did you know...the DockATot dock is an ideal spot to watch your little one spend active time on their tummies?

To practice safe tummy time, you must directly supervise your baby. Place the baby near the head of the dock with their arms over the edge. Never place your baby on his/her tummy to rest.

09 please read carefully

Do not forget…taking a few minutes to read the warning label is important.

Our warning labels have important information meant to protect your child, so please take time to read, understand, and follow these warnings. They are available on our products and on our website.
